“Cozy and rustic Revolutionary-War-era lodge with modern amenities, great views, and accompanying mead hall! Great breakfast bar with just about everything you could need, including K-cup coffee, oatmeal, granola bars, eggs, water, juice, etc. Peaceful in the nature on the mountain, just a short trip from downtown Bedford, Peaks of Otter Lodge, and Sharp Top Mountain hiking trail! Great value and friendly, knowledgable service.”

“The lodge is absolutely gorgeous. Rustic with a bit of a medieval feel. We stayed in King Suite 3 and the room was very spacious with a sitting area with table and 2 directors style chairs, mini fridge, keurig and microwave. Breakfast bars, oatmeal, “crack and egg” cups, eggs, butter, juice, water, coffee and tea provided. Our stay was on a cold winter night and 2 heaters were provided along with an extra blanket and we stayed warm and comfortable. Our room had a door out to the large deck. The bathroom had heated floors that felt great on such a cold night. The bed was a little firm for my taste but prefer that to a bed that is too soft or lumpy. We took mead home with us to enjoy over the hole it’s our adult kids. Would definitely return! Thanks for a lovely stay!”

“We had such a nice experience. Would definitely come back. John, the owner, is a wonderfully laid back host & a veteran. It’s a rustic/historic place with modern conveniences-room was large & spotless with a great view (picture of night time view) and privacy. The bed was very comfortable. Had our first ever mead, made from honey produced by the bees out back, at the meadery and loved them all. It’s close to the peaks of otter campground and hikes, where we spent our days.”

“My boyfriend and I had a lovely time here. It was a bit of a snowy weekend and this was the perfect location to enjoy some snowy walks around Peaks of Otter. John recommended a perfect hike. Great mead, comfy room, and beautiful area.”

“This place is such a gem. Stunning views. The room is beautiful and the bed is incredibly comfortable. We loved the mead and the hosts are so kind and hospitable. Incredible little historic place with modern amenities. We stayed here on an anniversary trip riding the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was perfect. I just wish I would have bought some of their local honey.”

“I stayed here for the weekend with my friend and we loved it! The meadery was great and was even hosting a viking festival the weekend we were there, so there was plenty of entertainment. We enjoyed sipping our coffee in the morning on the back porch overlooking the mountains, checking out the bees in action just steps from the cabin, and chatting with the owners who were so friendly and accessible. Sharp Top Mountain is a 5 minute drive away and a great hike with breathtaking views at the top. We also did a nearby waterfall hike and in general loved driving around the area. Would recommend!”
